International Cooperation Agreements

International students will be able to perform a study period at ISCTE-IUL in the scheme of cooperation protocols signed with third country universities. Third countries for this purpose means all countries not eligible under the LLP/Erasmus Programme.

ISCTE-IUL participates in a considerable range of international links and cooperation agreements: around 150 university's partner institutions worldwide in Africa, America, Asia and Australia.

If you would like to participate in an exchange at ISCTE-IUL your first point of contact will be your home university’s International or Student Exchange Office. ISCTE-IUL will only review student exchange applications that are formally submitted by the university.

If your home university does not have an exchange agreement with ISCTE-IUL, or if you have not been selected by your home university to study abroad under an exchange agreement, you may apply to ISCTE-IUL as a visiting student. Please e-mail us for more information to incoming.iro@iscte.pt.

Study in Portugal Network (SiPN)

The Study in Portugal Network study abroad programme is the only programme of its kind in Portugal, fully designed for North-American students.

SiPN study abroad programme is managed by the non-profit Luso-American Foundation for Development (FLAD), with the support of the Portuguese Ministry of Education and Science, the US Embassy in Lisbon, the Fulbright Commission in PortugalAICEP, and the Lisbon City Municipality, among others. It offers North American students the opportunity to spend a semester, year or a summer in the vibrant capital city of Lisbon, Portugal.

SiPN provides an academically rigorous but flexible study abroad programme that is designed to meet the needs of undergraduates from a variety of majors. Its core curriculum is focused on Portugal’s place in Europe and Lisbon as a safe and attractive cosmopolitan hub from which to explore themes related to the larger Lusophone community of some 260 million people.

The programme also includes a portfolio of internship options for credit, a range of cultural immersion tours and the option for students to connect with a Portuguese family through our Visiting Family Programme.

It's a network!

What makes SiPN unique is the fact that students can choose classes from any of the 4 member universities in Lisbon.

SiPN is designed to serve many different kinds of students. For those who are not yet ready to take all of their coursework in Portuguese, they can still cover their major or general education-type requirements through a wide array of offerings taught in English. Consequently there are two main types of classes: core curriculum (taught in English) and direct enrollment classes in our partner universities.

Every semester the host-university of SiPN rotates between the 4 member universities. During Summer and Fall 2015 SiPN will take place in ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon.
